2. Maintaining SQL Server Instances: A candidate should know how to manage SQL Server Agent jobs, alerts and operators in order to implement the job scheduling task in the SQL server. He should be able to implement the Declarative Management Framework (DMF) and backup a SQL Server environment.

Managing SQL Server Security: A candidate should be able to manage logins and server roles, users and database roles, users and database roles, SQL Server instance permissions, database permissions, schema permission, object permissions, and transparent data encryption, etc. He should also have the knowledge to audit SQL Server instances and configure surface area. 

4. 8. Implementing High Availability: A person should have the basic and advance knowledge to implement database mirroring, clustered instances, log shipping, and replication.
